There are different ways of inserting topology functions:
- You can place functions on a topology page from a navigator. In the process, the multi-line function is assigned to a topology function according to its function definition, and this topology function is placed.
- You can place topology functions directly on the topology page (using the "Insert symbol" action). But these functions are not yet defined precisely, and you must assign the multi-line functions to the topology functions at a later point in time (e.g., via the popup menu item Assign in the device navigator).
- You can work with devices. Either you generate the devices in the topology navigator and place them, or you insert the devices directly on the topology page (using the "Insert device" action). If a macro with the "Topology" representation type is stored for the device, the corresponding topology functions will be generated from it and placed.
- Alternatively, you can also work with unplaced devices in the topology navigator.
