Keywords, translation texts, or translatable project and parts texts can contain digits such as the text "Terminal with 3 connectors". Depending on the procedure, these digits will be either kept when importing, exporting, or translating texts, or replaced by placeholders.
When looking for suitable keywords during a translation and when exporting into a missing-words list, the type of segmentation is also important. A translation segment is a translation unit. When "defining the translation segments" you decide whether words, sentences, or whole entries should make up translation segments.
Import project and parts texts
When using the Import project texts into the dictionary and Import parts text into the dictionary functions, digits are replaced by placeholders in texts. During an import, project and parts texts are transferred to the dictionary as keywords. If the project / parts text contains a digit, the digit is also replaced in the keyword with a placeholder.

Note:
If a translation segment contains more than 10 digits, all digits in the segment will be kept and not replaced by placeholders.
When importing project / parts texts into the dictionary, it is not the individual words but always the entire entry of a text box that is imported. This makes translation easier, because often the sequence and number of words in an entry in the source language does not correspond to the sequence and number of words in the target language.

If the punctuation marks . (period), ! (exclamation mark) or ? (question mark) occur as end of sentence characters at the end of an entry, they are only imported if the Remove end of sentence character check box is deactivated under Utilities > Translation > Settings in the Project tab.
Missing-word list
When using the Export missing-words list function, digits in texts are replaced by placeholders.

Dictionary import / dictionary export
When using the "Import dictionary" and "Export dictionary" functions, digits in texts are kept.

Translation
When translating a text, EPLAN looks for a suitable keyword in the dictionary and for the translation uses the translation texts that are assigned to this keyword. If the text contains digits, first it looks for an exact keyword that also contains digits.

If EPLAN does not find a suitable keyword, a keyword that has a placeholder is sought. Then keywords with placeholders are used for the translation.
