Backing up Projects

When backing up projects, a distinction is made between Save additionally, File off for external editing, and Archive.

You can specify defaults for backing up projects in the user settings (Options > Settings > User > Data backup > Settings > Projects). These are set by default when any projects are backed and are used during the first backup of the project. If a project has already been backed up, the settings that were used are stored with the project, making them available for the next backup.

If several projects are selected, the default settings are always used, since project-specific differences may exist in the backup settings of the individual projects.

Save additionally

When backing up, an extra copy of the project is saved on a different storage medium. More than one project can be selected. They will be saved in sequence. Multiple selection of projects is done via the project management, where multiple selection is possible in the tree view.

File off

If the project is to be forwarded to a sub-contractor, end customer, or other company for temporary editing, then you can file it off.

A copy of the project is saved on a different storage medium and the source project then becomes write-protected. This avoids changes being made to the project in the meantime. Any changes made would be lost when the filed-off project is returned. All data from the filed-off project remains in the original location.

If a user attempts to edit a filed-off project, a message is displayed stating that the project is filed off and locked for editing.

Archive

Closed projects can be archived to obtain space and a better overview of the hard drive. A copy of the project is saved onto a different storage medium and, apart from a single information file, is completely deleted from the hard drive.
