The following Microsoft .NET framework is required to operate the Eplan platform:

When switching to .NET Framework 4.8.1 as of Eplan Platform Version 2024

  • Existing offline API programs can no longer be run directly with Eplan Platform 2024. They have be recompiled once with the .NET Framework 4.8.1.

    • An API program adapted in this way can be run with Eplan Platform 2024 and with the older Eplan Platform versions 2.9, 2023 and 2022.

  • API add-ins should not be compiled - this means that they remain executable in the Eplan Platform version in which they were created and in all newer versions of the Eplan Platform.

    • API add-ins compiled with the .NET Framework 4.8.1 are only executable in the Eplan Platform Version 2024 and higher.

The usage of a CPU with the instruction set AVX2 is required to run the Eplan Platform 2024 and 2025.

  • Hardware components such as the processor used are also checked for compatibility when Eplan starts. An error message could indicate hardware at this point in which processors with instruction sets unsuitable for Eplan are still installed. These are usually processors that are older than approx. 10 years.
  • If Eplan is also to be executable on virtual computers, the two processor options "CompatibilityForOlderOperatingSystemsEnabled" and "CompatibilityForMigrationEnabled" have to be deactivated when Hyper-V is used.

ClosedWebView2 Runtime

WebView2 Runtime from Microsoft is required to run the Eplan Platform 2024 and 2025.

  • A check is carried out when Eplan is started. An error message could indicate the missing installation of WebView2 Runtime at this point.

    • As a rule WebView2 Runtime is already installed as part of the operating system.

For the operation of the Eplan Platform 2023 / 2024 / 2025 an installation / use of the Office products is no longer necessary. Any Office product can be used to process exported data in Excel format.

The use of MS Access (*.mdb) is no longer necessary. It has been changed to an Eplan internal format.

Prerequisite for the creation of Microsoft Office file formats from Eplan is a functioning installation of an Office version as approved by Eplan on the PC.

Note

The Microsoft Access Runtime component is furthermore required in order to use Access databases in the Eplan platform.

If you have not installed Microsoft Office or if you use Microsoft Office without Microsoft Access, you must download the Microsoft Access Runtime component as a separate download from the Microsoft Internet site.

If you use Microsoft Office with Microsoft Access, this component is installed as well depending on the respective Microsoft Office installation:

This component is contained at an installation up to and including Microsoft Office 2013 in as far as Microsoft Access is installed as well.

In the case of a "click-to-run" installation of Microsoft Office 2016 this component is not included in the installation of Microsoft Access. In this case you also have to download the Microsoft Access Runtime component.

Virtualized environment

During the operation of the Eplan Platform in a virtualized environment a limitation / deviation of the functionality or a different system behavior (e.g. performance) can occur due to the system.

This behavior can usually be compensated for by a corresponding system configuration in Azure or by the connections of the end devices.
