Libraries
One of the most important aspects when working with EPLAN Cogineer Cloud is the clear-cut structuring and modularization of the functions of your product and of the data that are to be used for configure the functions. In this context the complete variance of the product has to be taken into consideration. The variance has a direct influence on the granularity of the modularization. A serial product does not have any variance. Therefore low granularity is sufficient for the modularization. A customization has a very high degree of variance. Therefore very high granularity is required for the modularization.
Use a macro project to create a library that contains all the macros that are required for the project documentation of your product in a modularized form. The library includes all the data that you need in EPLAN Cogineer Cloud. When all the macros are available in modular form, you can begin to define the rules for your configurator by defining Macro-Typicals, Typical-Groups, dependencies and cross-relations. To this purpose configuration variables and a simple formula language are available. In addition to the macros the rules are also stored in the library. Through the rules you determine which configuration possibilities the EngineerDesignation for the person who uses the Project Builder. Configures the configurators of the products and generates the corresponding project documentation. has in Project BuilderThe project-specific configuration and the automatic generation of the project documentation takes place in the Project Builder on the basis of the configurators and sets of rules defined in the Designer..
Subsequently you have to publish the library so that it is available for all users in your organization. Without publication the library is only visible for you.
Tip
Use the # character as an organizational property for functions and variants. It serves to achieve a clearly structured representation in the library, but does not have any relevance for the target project when generating the project documentation.
Notes
- To create a macro project you use a basic project and no template. The advantage is that a data connection exists in a basic project. The data are therefore always represented as you have defined them. A project template contains reference data. Reference data may be represented differently in a different project or a different workstation.
- A library which you are currently editing in DesignerConfigurators and sets of rules are defined on the basis of EPLAN macros in Designer. These form the basis for the configuration and the automatic generation of the project documentation. is shown to you in green lettering in Project Builder. This way you can immediately test changes that you made in Designer in the Project Builder. Others user can only access the library when you have published it.
For all usage instructions the following preconditions apply:
- You have started the EPLAN Platform.
- You have started EPLAN Cogineer Cloud Designer and logged in with your user data.
In addition there can be more preconditions. They are described in the relevant instruction.
Creating a new library
Libraries in EPLAN Cogineer Cloud are based on macro projects of the EPLAN Platform. To create a new library, you first need to create a macro project in the EPLAN Platform.
Precondition
You have created the macro project that you want to use as the basis for your library.
Procedure
- Mark the macro project that you want to use as basis for your library in the page navigator of the EPLAN Platform.
- In the EPLAN Cogineer Cloud click the Create new library button.
- The library is created. The name of the macro project is applied unchanged.
Loading macros into a library
Load all macros into the library that you need for the project documentation of your product. To do this you first need to be part of the macro project which you used for creating the library.
Preconditions
- You have created the macro project that you want to use as the basis for your library.
- All the macros that you need for the project documentation are part of the macro project in the EPLAN Platform.
Procedure
- In the page navigator of the EPLAN Platform mark the macro project that includes the macro that you want to upload.
- Click the button in the navigation bar of EPLAN Cogineer Cloud.
- All the macros that are contained in the macro project are loaded into the library.
After you have added the macros that you need for your project documentation to your library, you have to define their usage, positions, variable values and cross references. To do this you need the Macro-Typicals and Typical-Groups in which you create rules for this.
Publishing a library
If you want other employees from your organization to have access to the libraries you created, you have to publish them.
Precondition
You have already created the library you want to publish.
Procedure
- Click on the name of the library to open it.
- The view switches to the editing mode.
- Click the button to publish the opened library.
- The library is now available for all users in your organization.
Renaming a library
You can subsequently rename libraries already created.
- In the list of available libraries click the button to rename the respective library.
- Enter the desired name.
- Confirm your entries.
Duplicating a library
- In the list of available libraries click the button to duplicate the respective library.
- The duplicate is added under the selected library. The name is applied and the following suffix is added: "_<Counter>
_duplicate ".
Synchronization between macro project and library in the EPLAN Cloud
If you have modified macros that you already use in EPLAN Cogineer Cloud in the macro project, you do not have to republish the whole library. You can also start the synchronization process manually. This ensures that the macro files that you have added to Macro-Typicals are up-to-date. To do so, click the button at the lower end of the sidebar.
All the modifications are applied automatically for the corresponding elements in the Macro-Typicals. If data are deleted for which a reference existed in EPLAN Cogineer Cloud (for example a deleted macro variant), a corresponding message is displayed.
Note
To create a library you use a basic project and no template. The advantage is that a data connection exists in a basic project. The data are therefore always represented as you have defined them. A project template contains reference data. Reference data may be represented differently in a different project or a different workstation.
Deleting a library
- In the list of available libraries click the button to delete the respective library.
Archiving a library
You can export and import a library in Cogineer Cloud. This allows you to archive your data and to use them again, if required. The archive file contains all the macros and the rules that you have defined in the library. All the data are stored in compressed form. The file extension of an archive file is .cla.
Exporting a library
- In the list of available libraries click the button to export the respective library.
- The Save file dialog of your operating system is opened.
- Enter the desired file name.
- Navigate to the desired storage location.
- Click the Save button.
- The library is exported as a .cla file.
Importing a library
- Click the button in the navigation bar to import a library.
- The Open file dialog of your operating system is opened.
- Navigate to the storage location of the desired archive file.
- Select the archive file.
- Click the Open button.
- The library is imported. The name of the archive file is applied unchanged.
Notes
- Archive files may not be modified manually after the export. Modified archive file cannot be imported again.
- The importing and exporting of libraries is available as of the Cogineer Cloud Advanced module package.
